After a long, exhausting day at work, I decided to dub today Mojito Monday. This is a fantastic alternative to Meatless Mondays that so many people choose to go with, wouldn’t you agree?
Mortar & pestal

Traditional Mint Mojito

Juice of one lime
1 – 1 1/2 tbsp powdered sugar
2 tbsp fresh mint
1-2 ounces Rum
Ice, enough to fill glass
Sparkling water

I like to use a mortar and pestle to crush the lime, sugar and mint together, mostly because I don’t own a muddler.

Pour the liquid mixture (including the lime rinds) into a large glass. Add ice to fill the glass. Pour 1 – 2 ounces of rum over the ice. Top it off with sparkling water to fill the glass.

Note: Not in the alcohol mood? Try it without the rum for an equally refreshing beverage.
