I heard that some certain olive oils from a fancy olive oil store were excellent on ice cream. The one that sounded good to me was Blood Orange Olive Oil. Since we were in Stillwater, I was able to get the olive oil that I wanted. As was suggested, it was excellent on ice cream (I used chocolate). So excellent that this may be dessert in the coming weeks for a dinner party.
Many of my evenings are filled with making a smoothie for my next day’s breakfast. Last night, I used what I had in the house. I saw that fantastic tasting blood orange olive oil on the counter, and on a whim, I thought I would experiment with some of it in my smoothie. To my surprise, it was super duper YUMMY!
It was so yummy that I just had to share:
Chocolate and Blood Orange Olive Oil Smoothie
1 cup spinach
2 whole (fresh) mandarin oranges
1 1/2 cups strawberries
1 cup pineapple
1/4 tsp matcha tea
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp blood orange olive oil
1/2 cup Orange Peach Mango Juice (I use Dole)
1 cup water
1/2 cup ice (or as preferred)
Blend in Vitamix or power blender. This makes about 28 oz. I took half to work this morning and can hardly wait until I can have the second half for breakfast tomorrow.
